Launched in 2007 by Christine Gant, The Brown Butter Beauty line focuses on herbal infused global inspired apothecary. Brown Butter Beauty was created out of Christine’s journey to restore her hair, body and skin to its optimum health and vitality.
After years of working as a museum photographer with no self care routine. Christine was tired all the time, had eczema and her hair was thinning. She decided to change her lifestyle. She focused on eating natural foods and then started using natural vegetable oils on her hair and skin. Making time to take better care of herself changed her life.
Christine’s passion for photographing global artifacts and studying other cultures lead to her research on global beauty preparations and cultural home remedies. She studied the benefits of essential oils, herbs, flowers and product formulation. In her research she learned of the many beauty traditions of cultures from around the world and their ingredients. Including tinctured Tiare flowers in coconut oil from Tahiti called Monoi de Tahiti oil. Shea butter from Ghana, Babassu oil and Maracuja oil from Brazil, Moroccan Rhassoul clay and Argan oil. She incorporates these beneficial ingredients into the Brown Butter Beauty line.
Christine’s museum and artistic background helps her to create and curate a beauty collection that involves the senses, incorporating colors, texture and smell of each product. Christine eye for detail, knowledge and history of ingredients helps her to create quality, effective and artfully packaged products.
"Making beauty products and developing products is reminiscent to developing images in the darkroom. The delicate precision of the darkroom mimics the precision of making the beauty product formulations".
