Light Brown - Organic Hair Color
Light Brown
Colour Me Organic Premium
Certified Organic Hair Colour Powder · 3.5oz
The lightest and thinnest of our browns, made from seven organic herbs. No peroxide, no ammonia, no PPD. It processes for about an hour, then keeps developing for two to three days.
Read this before you choose it. Plant colour cannot lighten hair — and a lighter plant shade is a thinner one, not a stronger one. On dark hair, Light Brown adds warmth and shine but the change can be subtle enough that some people don't see it. That isn't a fault: the third ingredient in this shade is a herb that barely colours at all.
Where it does show is grey. Grey hair holds no melanin, so plant pigment lands at full strength there and barely registers on the pigmented strands around it. On darker hair with greys coming through, that reads as soft honey highlights rather than coverage — which is what most people choose this shade for.
If you want all of your hair to change, Brown or Dark Brown is the better fit.

What "100% organic" means here
Not 99%, not 99.9% — every herb in the pouch is certified organic, and there is no base powder or carrier underneath them. Each shade is vacuum-sealed to slow oxidation before you open it, and shipped by air from our production facility in India so newer stock reaches you.
The Natural Warmth of Light Brown
Because plant pigment layers over the colour you already have instead of replacing it, your own variation stays underneath — which is why the tone shifts between indoor light and sunlight rather than returning one flat colour. Indoors it reads as a warm coppery brown; in daylight the gold comes forward. It is the warmest brown in the range, and the one that changes most between rooms.
How it differs from chemical colour
Conventional dye lifts your own pigment out and puts synthetic pigment in its place — and a light brown on dark hair needs more lifting than a dark shade does, not less. This one doesn't lift anything. Plant pigment layers over what you have, so the cuticle stays shut and there is no damage to repair afterwards. That's the whole trade: it costs you the option of going lighter, and saves you everything that comes with it.

What to expect over three days
-
Right after rinsing — a faint green cast, then bright gold. On grey it can look startlingly orange. Normal starting point, not the result.
-
First 12 to 24 hours — the brightness drops back as the indigo forms.
-
Around day two — settles into honey brown, and stays warm. Judge your colour here, not before.
Do not blow-dry your hair after rinsing. The colour is still oxidising, and that reaction needs moisture. Force-drying stops it where it stands — on this shade, a bright uncooled orange. Let hair air-dry, with no heat, for the first 24 hours.
Expect to go twice. This is a thin shade, and on resistant or low-porosity hair one round often isn't enough. A second application a few days later builds depth; a longer first application does not substitute for it.

Results vary with starting colour, grey percentage, porosity and processing time. Light Brown carries the least pigment of the browns, so on darker or low-porosity hair the change is subtler than these photos.

This is the shade we hear about most when a result comes out fainter than someone hoped, and we would rather sort that out than have you give up on plant colour altogether. First-time customers who don't get the result they expected can have a different shade sent free, or a full refund on the colour. How the assurance works →
